VIOLENCE IN ALL ITS GLORY

Usually when we consider Social and Domestic Violence, it's only in the context of the violences involved within intimate relationships or those whom the victim knows.

However, Social and Domestic Violence span much further than these types of violences, to comprise lesser-recognized types of Domestic Violence, such as -

WORKPLACE VIOLENCE

Violences, whether in the form of micro or macro aggressions, or even those that might comprise physicalities in the workplace, are also considered Social and Domestic Violence.

This could mean a boss, co-worker or colleague harassing you or destroying and compromising your work, unfair and discriminating work cultures and practices, or even scenarios of deliberately preventing work field progressions, through maladaptive contrivances.

ILLICIT CON GAMES

While it is true that Domestic Violence is a form of socialized violence, Pyramid Schemes, Confidence Scams, and other such types of Fraudulent Activity which target a victim with intent to harm or exploit them, whether short or long term, through illicit or nefarious means of malevolence, is also considered Domestic Violence.

This is true even if the victim doesn't know or is familiar with the assailant.

MISOGYNY, HOMOPHOBIA and GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE

Individuals or groups who target, harass, and wage violence against someone because of their gender, sexual preference, or even their religious practices, can all be considered Domestic Violence, as while the victim doesn't necessarily have to know the assailant, the assailant being privy to the attributes of an individual or group, and using those attributes to cause them harm, constitutes Domestically Violent Conditions.

People or groups who purposely seek out, condemn and persecute others through the use of deliberate acts of volatile domination, diffusion, manufactured conflicts, or by seeking to maintain unequal leverage by excessive force, might all be subcategories of Domestic Violence.

This is especially true if there is an ongoing communal interaction taking place, even if there isn't necessarily an intimate relationship being engaged in or pursued.

INSTITUTIONAL VIOLENCE

Structural violences waged against a single person or a group of people based on nominal attributes, is akin to Social and Domestic Violence as well.

For any type of interactive violences or infractions, whether direct or indirect, especially if unprovoked, is considered Domestic Violence if on a continual interactive spectrum, the victim or group is harmed by the institutional socialization or interaction.

Just as in instances of Domestic Terrorism, where an assailant targets an individual or group in aim of causing harm or trauma, we consider the lesser form of  such a feat, a domesticated  phenomena of unwarranted violences, whether there exists mutual familiarity or there doesn't.

DIVISIVE ACTS

The deliberate aim of causing conflict, dissension, and division amongst otherwise healthy communal people or groups, has always been considered Socialized Domestic Violence.

Whenever the individual or collective survival chances of an individual or group is compromised by malevolent aim to divide and otherwise diminish the affirmative supportive attributes between those within a unitary relationship or within a group, there exists a scale of violence, acting to compromise the collective benevolence between its members.

FORCED ILLICITATION

When we consider the defining attributes of trafficking, we usually consider its narrowed conceptualizations, such as in contexts of sex trafficking or pedophilia rings.

However, the act of trafficking also comprises ANY ACT which encroaches on the personal freedoms or rights of an individual or group of individuals.

Socially forcing defunct lifestyles onto someone, by  framing and rigging unfavorable circumstances, to forge illicit and dysfunctional behaviors, such as encouraging illegal behavior or causing loss of freedom by provoking circumstances which produce lengthy prison sentences, is also a form of trafficking, and likewise falls under the umbrella of Social and Domestic Violence.

There is such an array of Domestic Violence attributional facets.

We here at OASISAGAINSTVIOLENCE strive to peel back some of its various shapes, so as to help our survivor community understand, not only the effects of such a volatile phenomena, but likewise to help them discover the benefit to be had on the other side of the relational dystrophy spectrum.

Social and Domestic Violence can happen to any and all of us.

For none of us are exempt from the deliberate aim of a predator.

And with each unveiling on this dais, we hope to, through education, help prevent in all its shapes and colors, someone else from being victimized, by sharing our wisdom and knowledge of Violence and Violent Behaviors in all their glory.
